Meet Dr. Reza Khazaie

A team of dental professionals, including Dr. Reza, recently joined the KIDS (Kids International Dental Services) organization on a mission to the Atlas Mountains of Morocco. The area is prominently known for phosphate mining – a key export for the country – which causes dental issues among the local children. To make matters worse, most of the villages rely on traditional wells for their water supply, which are contaminated by the runoff and seepage from the mines. As a result, the children have been experiencing black and soft teeth.

It is worth noting that prevention is the only permanent solution to this issue, which can be achieved through filtered or alternative sources of uncontaminated water. In partnership with the High Atlas Foundation, Dr. Reza and KIDS International Mission are seeking support from potential partners to find a solution to this issue.

During their trip, the team treated over 1,900 children. It is worth mentioning that the team’s efforts went beyond just treating the immediate dental issues of the children. They educated the locals on the importance of maintaining proper oral hygiene. The team believes that the issues will be adequately addressed only when the locals understand the importance of proper dental care.

In conclusion, the team’s mission to the Atlas Mountains of Morocco was a success. However, the issue of contaminated water still looms. The team sincerely hopes their efforts will bring attention to this issue and lead to a permanent and healthy solution.

Dr. Reza Khazaie and a team of dental and non-dental volunteers with KIDS (Kids International Dental Services) traveled to Cape Verde, Africa in May 2019. This was Dr. Khazaie’s fourth mission trip to Africa.

Our amazing team took two long flights (20+ hours) and a ferry to get to Santo Antao, an island off Cape Verde. Cape Verde is an island country in the central Atlantic Ocean.

We treated over 2000 patients during the week we were there and were able to educate, provide fluoride treatments, and treat hundreds of urgent dental issues. Our team worked very hard to make a difference for these beautiful children.

Dr. Reza Khazaie and a team of dental professionals traveled with KIDS (Kids International Dental Services) to South Africa to treat impoverished children South Africa. The children were treated with a preventative fluoride varnish, and necessary extractions and care were performed as well. The entire team was honored to help put a smile back on the faces of so many deserving children.

Dr. Reza Khazaie and a team of dental professionals traveled with KIDS (Kids International Dental Services) to South Africa in November of 22017 to treat impoverished children in several areas in Soweto and also Alexandra (both suburbs of Johannesburg).

During the six days they saw a total of 2,624 children. They treated 1,310 children with a preventative Fluoride varnish and extracted 627 teeth, as well as restored the smiles to several dozen others. Everyone on the team worked hard to make a difference for these beautiful children.

The Kids International Dental Services team had a great successful trip to Haiti. Dr. Reza Khazaie of Willow Pass Dental Care in Concord, California and a team of nine dentists traveled in October 2016 to treat impoverished children in this region for the first time.

They saw a total of 1,839 children. They treated 1,292 children with a preventative Fluoride varnish and extracted 481 permanent teeth and 271 baby teeth.

Our 5 day mission in Guatemala set a record of over 2,825 children seen on a KIDS trip (Kids International Dental Services), with 1,688 extractions and 252 fillings. The beauty of Guatemala never gets old! These Mayan families who are trying to rebuild their lives after terrible genocide, live in unimaginable poverty.

Most of the children that we treated this week are suffering from severe malnutrition, which is made worse by the pain from their decaying teeth. The work that our tireless team has done here will save lives.

It has been both an exhausting and exhilarating week with an extraordinary and very special group of people. I’m so lucky to be part of KIDS Guatemala 2015!

The Kids International Dental Services team had a great successful trip to Haiti. Dr. Reza Khazaie of Willow Pass Dental Care in Concord, California and a team of nine dentists traveled in October 2016 to treat impoverished children in this region for the first time.

They saw a total of 1,839 children. They treated 1,292 children with a preventative Fluoride varnish and extracted 481 permanent teeth and 271 baby teeth.

Dr. Reza was part of a team of 5 dentists, 1 dental assistant and 9 volunteers that traveled to Cape Verde, Africa in May 2016. They journeyed by plane and by ferry to arrive at the island nation of Cape Verde.

The KIDS dentist team was able to see 1,232 kids in only five days. They extracted 1,128 teeth and restored 60 permanent teeth.
